Re: amalgamite ideas for use
Yes, it would be impossible for the amalgamite to penetrate that, so it would have to be crushed on down... Most rhyolite I have ever seen and/or worked with, were massive with intrusive gold bearing materials. The only thing that I know of that will turn it blue is cobalt... If it were copper, it would be more a turquoise. No, no precious metals will have that effect. Bill Goldco Mining

Re: amalgamite ideas for use
I forgot to ask. The rhyolite flow is 3 to 4 inches high starting with grey vesecular bottom, then a 1 1/2 inch of beautiful blue hued wonderstone Rhyolite obicular and ending up with 3/4 to 1/2 inces of blue obsidian. What metal would give this beautiful blue color? Im thinking copper or cobalt. Do any of the PMs turn silica blue?

Re: amalgamite ideas for use
This weekend, I tried an electrolytic attempt. Very simple (just wanted to see if it gave up gold). Used a battery charger,2 stainless butter knives, 1/4 cup sulferic acid and about 1 guart of the water with soot. Did this for 6 hours and it did nothing but bubble. I know the rhyolite is full of PMs because you can see it. The vesecular and obicular sections that contain most of the metal are nearly impossible to break up. Hit it with a sledge hammer and couldnt break it. I would imagine it...

Re: amalgamite ideas for use
Hi, here is my take on this, and anyone can jump in here if you have any (valid information for this person.... Most any geologist will tell you that Ryolite is one of the eye catchers (indicators), when searching for gold... Gold seams (veins) develope Geothermically (spelling may be in error, as it is very early for me), between masses of Ryolite. With Ryolyte being such porous porphory material, it can absorb some of the gold in either direction for several feet, making an extensive ore...

Re: amalgamite ideas for use
I have about 40 lbs of soot suspended in water, left over from washing off blue ryolite. The soot is actually the ashes left behind when the rhyolite oxidized a pyrite feild. I can get hundreds of pounds of this material. Question is, will these ashes yeild any Gold?
