DEAL ALERT!!!
Nov 27, 2008 08:46 PM
|
I thought maybe we could have a thread with the intent of alerting everyone of finds we have found on eBay that are unusual or rare. I don't recall anyone listing this one on their Christmas Wish List, but in the past there was interest in this set, the Dealer's Nativity. The # is 290278702882. The production title or adequate description was lacking in the item title, so it may have escaped your search. There is a reserve, but it does come with all the boxes. Happy bidding! -- ken ken

310103869026 This is the E-2395 original mini-nativity with both the regular shepherd and the "Turban Boy" shepherd in the same set. Has the box and all are first marks. A couple other "Turban Boy" sets just sold if you want to track price comparisons. Annie

250330782203 - this is # 540013. It is the Chapel 10th Anniversary figurine, in box, new, unmarked and rare to find anywhere. Only issued in 1999. Not much time left but for those interested, take a look ... it's a really cute piece! Annie

250334474583 - This was on someone's Wish List at some point but I can't remember who. It's 587915, "RV Haven' Fun Or What" - minty with original box and first mark. Price is right, too. Harder to find anywhere because only short production cycle. Annie

Thanks Ken for the heads-up!! I didn't purchase the one of two BIN she had up, but did email her and ask if she had a just "Follow the Star" plate. I had a "Come Let Us Adore Him" plate already. Sure enough, she did and she posted that one plate up on eBay - 270312194946. I noticed one of her other BIN is gone - she just has the BIN with the two plates up now. So someone else got one of the plates, too. The last BIN (with two plates) is: 270310520579. -- Edited by pm*s-r-4ever at 12/03/2008 5:10 AM PST

Here's another dealer's nativity, 200289723922. Opening price $67.99. The only thing that troubles me is the statement, "It comes in its original box." Maybe this is just a typo, but technically, I would feel better if it had said "boxes", not "box", since each piece has its own box. So you might want to check that out with the seller before you bid. -- ken ken

Ken, check the listing now! I wondered the same thing and sent an email to clarify the box issue. She posted the answer so you can read what she said. All six boxes are there including the styrofoam inserts with one small missing flat styrofoam lid. This looks like a good one if you're hunting the Dealer's Nativity !! Annie

Speaking of the "Always Victorian" series, this seller has all three ( Faith, Hope, Charity) listed for $10 each with original boxes . The item number for the first is 320331348673. The auctions for all three close in a little over two days. Good chance for someone who didn't get these. Javina, see what someone thinks your set is worth now ... it's so upsetting to see them being given away. Annie

No Way!!! I should check this stuff more often... I think they were about $50.00 a piece! That's okay, though because I like mine and wouldn't let go of them- they're too pretty. It is sad...

I don't know if this really falls in the "DEAL" category, but I just know I've never seen it before. For you cooks that want the most in-fashion PM accessory, I give you 4 PM Cookie Cutters, complete with can & lid, for $9.99. The lid is a little shabby. Also seems a little pricey to me, but then, if you don't have it, and want it, this might be your only chance. Then again, I found it while looking for "clowns", so who knows how often it may have been offered, and I was never aware. Oh yeah, you might want to know the item #: 290289672559. -- ken -- Edited by y8sisgr8 at 01/17/2009 1:46 PM PST ken

This is an awesome listing if all the bells and whistles are there ... # 160313902957. This is the 25th Anniversary parade figurine advertised as MIB for a starting bid of $19.99. This piece originally sold for retail at $325. It's only a three day listing, I think, but for someone who didn't get it because of the price, it would be great. It's huge and heavy. I would email for specific conditions, anyway, just to make sure. I don't know the seller but the feedback is 100% and he/she has been selling a lot of very nice boxed PM pieces lately for very good prices. I've watched several just to see what the ending price would be. Just thought someone might want to check it out. -- Annie

This is not the easiest piece to find; however, the listing says it does not have the box. The auction is # 150324954256. It is Feed My Sheep, originally sold for $67.50 with a starting bid of $7.99. It was first an exclusive limited to the PM Gift Shop at the Shepherd of the Hills outdoor theater in Branson. Later, the gift shop there closed and the remaining pieces were Chapel Exclusives and sold in the gift shop up here. The figurine is really cute if someone would want to get one even though it does not have the box. The seller has been selling a lot of PM lately for good prices although I have no idea who it is. Many are the older pieces. Seems to be into diecast scale model cars and PM !! Quite a combination. I would email for conditions to be sure and it ends in three days, I think. Just a thought for someone who missed it .. Annie

Shiny plate fans rejoice, look at #320339486680. Come Let us Adore Him. Going for $10, though with a tattered box. OK, Second Chance here! Nobody must have bought it the first time, now going as item #370160410388. -- ken -- Edited by y8sisgr8 at 02/15/2009 9:41 PM PST ken

Dealer's Nativity - $.99! Item #150330110100. With all boxes. Considering the time of year, the economy, the fact that "Dealer's Nativity" or 9" nativity or anything about the boxes is NOT in the title, and you get the good odds this one is going to escape some folks and go cheap. The only drawback would be a statement that "almost" all of them had the olive branch mark, whereas they ALL should have it. Possibly one piece is unmarked? Or worse case scenario, one piece might really be #111333, not #104523? Could be worth a little investigation, if you're interested. -- ken ken

OK Ken, a little education. Simply, what is the difference in the 2 numbers you quote? I am not very familiar with this set so you get to educate me. Thanks PS Someone asked the mark question. She answered 2 sheep are without marks

#111333 was the 9" set of just Mary, Joseph, Jesus, and a lamb. It was identical to the same pieces in the 9-piece set, except for the mark and production number. It came out after the 9-piece set generated so much interest. I guess someone else has answered the question, though; if two of the sheep are unmarked, they might be slightly more valuable in some peoples' eyes. This assumes they are part of the 9" set #104523, and not the cheaper set #111333. -- ken -- Edited by y8sisgr8 at 03/04/2009 6:27 AM PST ken

For those of you wanting that illusive-at-a-decent-price dealer's nativity, here's one (depending upon whatever the reserve is!): 260402828586. It has all the boxes, starting at $99.95, and seller doesn't seem to want an arm and a leg to ship it. So give it a look. -- ken ken

I wrote to ask the reserve price. It is $300. So don't know if this is much of a "deal" after all.

The fact that the seller would tell you what the reserve price is makes the whole reserve idea a real joke. Idealistically, you would think that the reserve should be within hailing distance of the starting price, just to generate interest. But when the reserve is three times the starting price, there is no facade as to what is really going on. I think eBay needs some "reserve reform" in their policies. Too often I get the idea that the reserve is used as a safeguard, and the starting bid is artificially low just to cut down on listing fees. Now if they used the reserve as the basis for the listing fee, THEN we would see some realistic starting prices! Of course, what do I know, I'm not a seller; but that's what it appears like from here. Maybe some of you sellers might enlighten us from your perspective? -- ken ken

I think you have the concept pretty clear. Low starting price = low listing fees. Reserve = back up plan. At least that is how I see it. But the low starting price may also generate enough interest to start a bidding war, esp with newbies not familiar with eBay prices. I don't think many experienced eBayers will fall for that tho.
