Looking for old J&D buttons
Sep 28, 2011 05:18 PM

Hi...:)

I was cleaning today and found some old Collectors Bulletins from Rosie and read an article from the "button lady"...I forgot her name..

Her collection of buttons are in the gallery.

Does anyone know how to contact her?

I'm looking for some old "Brown Sugar" buttons and old J&D catalogs to find pics of them....

Thanks for the help!

Greg :)

I believe her name was Marilyn Olmacher (spelling might not be quite right).  I have no idea is she is still around.  I think there was a book that she put out or a phamphlet---I might even have it around here somewhere.  I too have a bunch of buttons and some of the older ones--I also have quite a few of the old Jonathan and David Posters----I believe that Marilyn lived in Ohio.  I'll check with another PM collector here in Denver and she might know more about her--or know of someone who does-

I don't know if technically this is a J&D item, but it sure looks like the button photos.  The obverse is a girl carrying a wooden cross with the inscription, "I Beleive in the Old Rugged Cross".  No, my spell-checker is working fine, but apparently NOT when they misspelled this in production!  On the bottom edge it reads, "Copyright 1990 Samuel J Butcher Co".  But this is not a button; the reverse is a mirror.  Anyone ever seen anything like this?

Hi Ken...

I have one of those "mirror" buttons also...I also wondered what collection they were from in PM or maybe they were supposed to be magnets?

My mother was a dealer from the very beginning of Jonathan & David until 1995 and she used to sell the buttons and the button like mirrors. I just came across a box of the buttons and mirrors the other day.  I'll let you know what I have and send some photos when I bring the buttons home.
