Many kudos to our hard-working leadership !!  B-)  This is slowly but surely turning around and becoming much more friendly than in the beginning.  Pam, I know how much effort you have put into "reprogramming" this and it's really appreciated.  Ken, now you can get your little green avatar back !!  Sheila, whatever you are doing behind the scenes is also much appreciated. :)

Thank you all so much !!

Thanks for the kudos, Annie, but I still haven't figured out how to get my green avatar back!  All I get to choose from is a bunch of Skype images with an "S" prominently displayed.  The only reason I have this avatar is that it was the only one not advertising for Skype.  I don't even know what it means, but at least it's not a hideous shadow.   I see a bunch of you with different avatars; is it something you created yourself, or is there a file somewhere on eBay that you picked it from?

I picked some pictures already in my computer and loaded them in to pick my final choice for my avatar.  I know all you computer geniuses have this figured out but it took me forever to make it work !!!!   I haven't found any groupings or collections of avatar choices in the new setup at all.   Where or how did you find your new one and where are the Skype images ????   ?:|   Just curious.

Annie  :)

Some time ago, eBay bought out Skype, and proceeded to try to get it's existing members to try it.  I never did, but there's still an unwanted Skype icon on my screen.

Until recently, when I brought up my Microsoft Word file of canned paragraphs, it went to My Documents, but suddenly, it started going to My Skype Pictures instead.  I manually change it every time now back to My Documents, and never bothered to see what My Skype Pictures was until now.  You would think that with a title starting with "MY", I would have some imput in deciding what MY pictures are, but Skype knows what I really need, and it's a bunch of different artwork, most prominently displaying the Skype logo.

I now realize that's what I getting whenever I try to go through the avatar set-up process.  I guess there's a way to bypass this irritant and use my REAL photos, but I have yet to figure it out, or magically create the time necessary to establish this most-critical-process -to-enjoy-your-eBay/Skype-experience!

One thing that really annoys me about this new format, is that any new posting goes to the bottom of the list and you  have to scroll down the whole topic to find the new posting.  Some of our regular topics are 3 or more pages long!

I was thinking that very thing when I was scrolling down to read your post, Fred.  The only thing I can suggest to make this more bearable is to go to Preferences under My Content, and change the number of posts/topics per page to the maximum, which is 50.  You will still have to scroll to the bottom of the page, but at least there will be fewer pages to bother with.  I have noticed some changes since this "improvement" was thrown at us, so hopefully they will eventually restore some of the babies they threw out with the bathwater!

If you go to your Preferences on the left side of this page under My Content, click on it to open that window.  Closer to the bottom is a category called General Preferences.   One choice there is the Sort Order.  Click on that and you have two choices, "newest first" or newest last"  ... newest first will bring up the last posting for any of the threads so you don't have to scroll down through the whole thread to find the new post(s).  Set it on newest first then click the "Save" button and you're all set.

Thanks, Annie!  I didn't see that little icon hiding there in plain sight!  It's probably good for everyone to go through and recheck that their preferences are really THEIR preference, not eBay's.

You are both very welcome!  Mine was originally like yours in the "upside down" clunky way to get to new posts.  It wasn't that way before all the changes and I liked it about as much as you guys did.  Did a bunch of searching and clicking on things and finally found how to fix it.  My first significant computer accomplishment to date !!    :^O
