Wow!! That's just nuts! There should be some way to let eBay know that the purchases were made just for the purpose of leaving bad feedback.

The fact that negative feedback was left so quickly after the purchases should tell eBay that the goal of the purchase was to leave negative feedback. Have you tried contacting eBay? Might be worth a try.

I'm sorry this happened to you. Thanks for posting.

Purchasing something just to leave negative feedback is against the ebay rules. Contact ebay support and let them know that.

Recently, someone bought an authentic Cartier watch from me, paid for it promptly, and I promptly shipped it to hi. While the package was on its way to him, he decided the watch was a fake without ever seeing it and said he will not accept shipment. When I told him that a jeweler had verified the authenticity of the watch, he demanded to know the serial number and demanded Cartier-supplied papers, which the auction did not include. I told him that Cartier does not give papers for resale items, nobody does. And I could not supply the serial number because I did not have the watch, it was already on its way to him. Anyway, ebay said I had to give him a refund although he did not even see the watch, and did not have to prove that it was a fake. Then he left me negative feedback stating that it was difficult to return a fake item to me. ebay said that they cannot remove feedback even if it is obviously a lie. I am extremely frustrated with the ebay feedback system and the way buyers have all the advantage. Sellers' reputations are besmirched and ebay lets it all happen. You can see the bad feedback and note the buyer's name for future reference.

I have completely closed my ebay store due to hate mail and harrassment from a customer. I reported him to Ebay 5 times and no action taken. I have had it with a corrupt and one-sided system that works only for the buyer and leaves the seller out to hang. Check my feedback and you will see the last negative (several pages in) and the negativity from it. I have a brick and mortar store, so the 1500 items I pulled off of mt ebay store will just be integrated into my store inventory. So luckily I don't need to deal with the hassle anymore. Ebay and its corrupt customers can eat each other.

How many Hong Kong bootlegs are for sale on Ebay?
Most of what you purchase is now coming from Hong=Kong and is probably a bootleg. Watch out.

I have not left feedback for over 2 years. I do not participate in a corrupt system. Don't ever expect feedback from me.

I sell from time to time and like others I am getting fed up with the whole eBay system. Sellers not being able to leave negative feedback, sellers having to pay for insurance, fees that going up despite what eBay tells its sellers - exhorbitant fees on cosmetic items, etc. To say nothing of answering ridiculous questions from potential buyers. What is so difficult to understand about "I accept paypal only and ship only to United States"? And, the sellers has to be nice to the potential buyer so they don't leave negative feedback. I know someone who does eBay for a living (over 15,000 items sold) and have been told by that person that this is eBay's way of "squeezing out" the small volume seller. Don't know. It's just what I heard.

yeah, glad I found this group - I have had three high bids this week and no pay, no contact on any. Found out that a question I asked earlier on a bid item irritated the seller and he got two of his friends to bid my items high and then not pay...can't eBay to do a damn thing about it so far.

I recently sold an item to a woman. She asked for and received one-third off the asking price on a solid sterling silver necklace. After she received it, I received a threatening email from her stating that the necklace was part brass, and if I gave her a $50 additional refund she wouldn't leave me bad feedback. Her ebay ID is 'kathyemens', and her feedback is private. I felt that it was some kind of mistake, so I advised her to try a couple things like polishing the silver to see if she was just mistaking tarnish for brass, etc. She continued to be combative and nasty, calling me dishonest and other names, when I was honestly trying to help her. I spoke with someone at eBay and they advised that I offer to let her return it for a refund, which I did. She didn't like that option, and just wanted $50 more off the price. At this point I realized that I was being played, and told her that her only option was a return. She left me negative feedback (I had 100% positive before her) and started a claim with paypal. Once again, I told her thru paypal to return it for a full refund. Paypal told her the same thing. Two weeks was up a couple days ago, and she still hadn't given paypal a shipping receipt, and they released my money back to me. What an experience! This woman is a monster! Put her on your blocked list! Wish there was some way to block anyone with 'private' feedback.

I understand the frustration with the necklace and the buyer giving you a hard time - been there. But, as I understand it mentioning an ebay "name" can get this group shut down by ebay. I've had the feeling we have to be very careful about what we say and how we say it. Like thinking of a positive way of leaving negative feedback. Perhaps I misunderstood. If I did I could leave a list of "bad" buyers. Can anyone clarify this for me. Thanks.

I AGREE THAT THE ONLY WAY TO LET EBAY KNOW OF OUR FRUSTRATION IS TO STOP DOING BUSINESS. I JUST GOT MY FIRST NEGATIVE FEEDBACK FROM A CUSTOMER AND IF YOU LOOK AT HOW MUCH NEGATIVE FEEDBACK HE HAS LEFT FOR OTHER PEOPLE YOU CAN TELL HE ENJOYS LEAVING IT. I offered to refund him but he did not respond to the offer. I bought them for my son off of ebay almost15 years ago. I did not know the cards were fake. He said it was his right to leave negative feedback if he was unhappy with an item. I told him if I had gotten such bad service as many times as he had I wouldn't do business with that company again. Its a very one sided system. They allow negative feedback without any contact with the seller to try to resolve it. when my few auctions are done I am finished. I don't make enough to make it worth the stress and frustration. But I can tell you this if I am done selling I am done buying along with anyone I can find that will listen to me. Word of mouth has hurt many a companies maybe its time for ebay to learn that too. I am very disgusted right now. I am an honest hard working person. I have refunded many of extra shuipping fees because I found a less expensive way to get a package to someone. Its just not worth it anymore to be belittled and threatened by buyers who expect golden eggs for 99cents

Yes, the group can be shut down if ebay names are mentioned. I've seen it happen to 2 other groups recently.

To see who left negatives we can just click on your feedback number and it will take us right to your feedback. So mentioning ebay names is not necessary.

The reply to the buyer of the necklace was excellent.

I feel silly mentioning this but I just want to vent - and maybe see if anyone else has encountered something similar...I sold an item for 99 cents and did not receive ANY response from the buyer at all. I sent several e-mails and went through the claims case process. Nothing, nothing, nothing. At the time I sold it, buyer had no feedback at all; later there appeared positive feedback from her only other seller - positive only because there was no way to leave negative - stating buyer biuds and then doesn't pay.
I just can't understand why anyone would do this. What advantage does she gain?

She/he could just be a newbie and not understand the process. Probably no advantage. Just one of those things that happen with selling!

I don't buy the newbie issue. A couple of weeks ago I had someone win an auction. No communication, no response to my emails, obviously no pay. Later I loooked at this persons feedback to find out if she was doing this to other sellers and found she was buying the same thing as she won from me, paying, and is getting positive feedback. Go figure. Anyhow, I'm glad to see that I'm not the only one with auction winners not paying. Does anyone use the feature that they have to pay right away? I haven't done that - could be a solution to the non paying issue.
Off the subject - I haven't done any new photos since picture manager went away. How's that going? When I read the info it sounds complicated.

If I am selling a large item that I really can't combine shipping on then I will use the 'immediate payment required'. The reason I don't use it more is because a lot of my buyers will buy more than one item and if immediate payment is required then you can't easily combine everything on one invoice. So that means everything would have to be paid for separately.

A while back I was having quite a few non-payers but none at the present. By all means, we need to file a claim and give them strikes when they don't pay.

Hello,

Yes we should not have to kiss a** to every buyer when they are cheating or being petty just to not unfairly scar our ebay seller rep. Buyers need to pay at auction end not 3 days later or not at all. I will only sell with free ship so I can put the buy it now pay now because I am fed up with chasing people. If your going to pay late at least get permission before bidding.

Hi Guys/Gals!
Being new to this group I realize how many other sellers are in the same boat as me! I've been selling on eBay for about 12 years, I'm a power seller & a top rated seller. I've got an eBay store as well. I have spoke to eBay reps a few times over the last weeks and tried to make them aware of the feedback issue (no neg for buyers) and the resulting 'blackmail' situation we sellers are put into. I don't see any chance that eBay will change this back, not now, not in the future. It's all about the buyers, the sellers are left in the dust. The constantly rising cost of selling on eBay combined with the 'PayPal only' policy have cutmy profits by at least 25-30%. Not to mention that there is hardly any bidding anymore. I have run a few collectible cars & parts thru eBay and got offered less than half of what they later sold at 'live' auctions. The 'sniping' is a real problem, everybody tries to get the stuff in the last seconds but there's only one or two bids that can be placed in that time. The result: no sale! And it would be so easy to fix that!
Furthermore, the specific rating for shipping time, shipping cost and comunication is unrealistic and/or unfair! I ship usually within 24 hours. That the carrier takes 7 days isn't my fault! I usually charge a flat rate and so I sometimes make a $ while I loose one at other times. It just pans out to (barely) cover the cost!
And comunications? Hey, I really don't have the time to spend 2 hours on the phone with a potential buyer of a $2.00 item! Lets be realistic!
So, I think eBay made a lot of mistakes in the recent past. It's time to make changes! They need to listen a little more to their sellers because when we leave, they'll have no business.....
Thanks for letting me go on this rant!

Groups are a good place to rant. That way it helps us to be calm when responding to a less than pleasant buyer.

Yes, ranting and venting are good. Shipping costs are another place we get a bad rap - best word/s I could come up with that wouldn't offend anyone. We have to "inflate" our shipping costs so that we do make a little money. Then buyers complain because the shipping cost on the envelope label isn't what was charged. And, if we "inflate" the cost of the item up for auction then no one bids because they can get it for less from another seller. Buyers just don't understand that there are as many fees as there are.

I like the fact that when you print a shipping label through paypal you can have the shipping cost not showing on the label.

It doesn't work for international shipping though. And shipping internationally is where we take the biggest risk. I have one item that I changed to shipping by USPS International Priority instead of first class because of the risk of losing with first class. I really hated to do that because the cost to the buyer is so much more but when I ship and it gets lost I have to refund and it's too much money for me to lose.

Wow, what a great group!!! :)
Just thought I would say hello and say how happy I was to have 3 NWT identical items returned by a buyer and Paypal refunded thier money...Nothing new, but: 2 of them were worn!!!!! I contacted them and I said: "what happened" and the Paypal person said: "it was not enough for us to appeal the claim for you, I take tags off the clothes all the time". I know certain stores do accept used clothing back, but it just makes me mad. It's like the buyer knew what they were doing, and gave me no indication there was a problem: no phone call, no email, nothing, went right to Paypal claim :(

Thanks for reading nice to vent!

PS: I was told if there was a whole in the item where the tags were removed it would be different.

Hi all -- Just lost my Top-rated seller status thanks in part to the buyer listed below!

Buyer idwezo00 left me a negative when a shirt he received from me was too small and I did not respond to his email right away (I was traveling). The shirt measurements were clearly spelled out in the listing. I offered to exchange shirt for larger one. His response was he did not want to spend any more money on shipping the first back and that if I sent it for FREE (he'd keep the first one too!!) he would consider revising my feedback. I asked eBay to remove the negative based on feedback extortion but they did not see that the seller had violated the policy. They also deleted my truthful feedback which warned of bad buyer saying I can't say anything negative in a positive feedback.

Obviously I think it is terrible one cannot "out" a potentially bad buyer to other sellers!

Ebay is too buyer sided. They are pushing the very people out that made the company a good place to buy and sell. After 13 years on eBay I'm going to greatly reduce my selling. Too bad.....eBay was a good continuous selling platform at one time!
