OK, Mike,
I,m an antique chess set restorer.
There are usually around 2000 or so pages on me on the web, so if you are interested to find out more about me, try, "chessspy picasa" or "chessspy scribd"
either or both usually cuts out most of the carp,(anagram)

I have an online stalker, who sometimes pretends to be me, a real saddo, but he has quietened down since I sent the feds round to his house to find out why he was trying to sell his daughter on ebay for $200,000

regards to all.

Hi, My name is Bonnie. I don't have a business but I buy a lot off eBay. I have sold before but not enough to become a power seller. I sold a few things during November & December of 2008 and this Ahole left me negative feedback for a pair of jeans he won from me. I sent him an e-mail asking why? He said he did not want to pay the return shipping charges. I e-mailed him again and told him the auction stated if not completely satisfied monies refunded. You would have thought he would have e-mail me stating his issues. I sold a lot of the jeans and no-one had any problems but this Ahole. Anyway my feedback went form 100% to 9.8% and now my feedback is at 98.0%. Does anyone know why this would happen? Not that I care anymore eBay has screwed up when they did the sellers like they have and the stupid DSR's what a joke. I don't think we should get too upset with the feedback system as it is now. Though I'm not a seller at this point and have limited buying experience on eBay, we need to take a look at the "Bigger Picture". We have to keep a couple of things in mind here. First of all, if you are a power seller, you must know that you are going to have to deal with someone along the way that you just can't please no matter what. The volume of people you are exposed to. You don't know these people, nor do you know why they respond the way they do. The first thing we need to understand is that YOU CAN'T PLEASE EVERYONE.

The next thing we need to consider is what the buyer thinks of our feedback score. Now I know I'm new in eBay, relatively speaking, but I as a buyer would like to know what the sellers feedback score is over the past year. We're not stupid people for the most part, we understand that nothing in life is perfect, and we make decisions based upon our common sense. Heck, if I remember correctly, I recently purchased an item from someone who had a feedback score of 98. something.

If you are doing you're best as a seller then my advise to you is "CHILL" everything will be just fine at the end of the day.

Thanks for listening to my rant.

Dave

Hi all,
I am new here. I was a Coach/Educator for over 30 years starting the career at young age, so don't go and think I am ancient ;)

Anyway, in late December 2005, I went into a coma that lasted over 18 days. The doctors tried to get my son, and the better half to "pull the plug". They advised I would not make it. Well, fortunately, we had discussed this very issue at some point if anything ever happened to any of us. We decided 30 days at least. I say this for couple of reasons.

One, if you have not discussed this with your loved ones, I encourage you to do so. If they had pulled the plug, I would not be here typing today.

Second, this is what precisely brought me to eBay. I am currently disabled due to this coma with leg problems. However, I am able to "function", "sale", and do all that I use to do other than the activity of being on the basketball court or classroom. I truly miss it.

Yet, after seeing so MANY CHILDREN in the schools coming from broken homes, "crack" homes, and more, I decided to give back what those young men and women had given me all those years with the honor of teaching and coaching.

So, my venture to eBay. I give back from every sale, win or lose, to these children. Yet, it is so sad to have to deal with the high fees we face, the "few" who intimidate sellers with threats of negative feedback, and more. I think most of you reading this in the group know of what I speak.

However, like "Dave" said above, I try to "chill" and remember my purpose here...to help a child with a simple sale. Sometimes, that is not easy. I really get "hurt", and "upset" when I meet that "buyer" who is demanding, non-understanding, and even border line abusive with threats of feedback.

Recently, for example, I sold an item to a person. The individual claimed they did not receive and package was ripped open. I spoke with Postal Service and they went to length of speaking with route carrier. The employee advised it was "not opened". So, you can see what happened here. I shipped a new item to the buyer after hearing, and even calling person, to let them know we would simply replace, and not get upset, etc. We sent the new replacement...and guess what...we got a "neutral" from this buyer, along with low marks on the stars. This really hurt...we had lost money on the sale, did everything we knew how to represent eBay professionally.

I mention this in closing....we could not "warn" other sellers about this buyer with feedback...so, sadly we get hit with the burden of bearing the eBay standard.

eBay, please understand...the "little guy and gal" is what got you started...now, we are feeling the push out the door in lieu of the big corporations who can pay those big fees, and more...Big corporations don't mind the "hit" of negative feedback...Yet, we, the small seller, are "real people" simply trying to do our best...and trying to uphold eBay to the world with your guidelines, and policies.

Well, I ranted, and all, but just wanted to say, "Thank you for the group"....I hope to meet new friends, and maybe together we can give one another a shoulder to lean on daily"....

Me...I am just a bee in a swarm...but a swarm can create a buzz which can be heard....

I have to agree with you Coach J. We fight the little stars all the time. We get great feedback then they kill us in the stars. Just don't get how some buyers can be so unfair.

Talk about a group of kindred spirits! I have been on eBay since 1998, (have another ID, with close to 4000 feedback) and have witnessed a huge decline over the past years...and recently things have gotten much, much worse sales wise and search engine wise.

I have been an antiques & collectibles dealer for over 20 years, sarted dealing at 19 and am now respected in the field....earned my stripes & scars, so to speak.

eBay used to be such a friendly place, but now between scamming buyers, newbies who think they know everything there is to know about eBay and how wonderful it is (they buy 5 items for 99 cents each and they are experts...), etc, etc, etc I am gettting extra discouraged...the glitches, constant ridiculous changes, etc were bad enough, but there is NO real community anymore.Feedback system is permanently broken, buyers have close to ZERO repsonsibility, and the list goes on and on...we all know the problems, so it is redundant for me to list them here...and it is not like eBay listens to any of us.
I have been thinking for years of starting a strictly antiques & collectibles (& supplies) auction site..get so tired of sifting through the repros, decorator brand new "vintage" stuff, "folk art" crafts, items listed brashly in the wrong categories and outright fakes.....
Selling modern stufff is fine and dandly, and I have nothing against it (I sell that sort of stuff on this ID at times), but the stuff just does not belong in the antiques & collectibles areas....and I'll be darned if I will be the policeman to cull it out. I have seen SO many listing violations these days....and now I just say "more power to ya man".

Well, now a strictly antiques & colelctibles site is in the works. There are very few (if any?) "corporations" selling antiques & collectibles, and I think that it is likely the most harmed area on ebay...the very thing that ebay was built on (remember, ebay was essentially built on PEZ!)....they seem to want to eliminate small sellers, and, well, I think pretty much all antiques & collectibles sellers are "small sellers" to them. SO, the solution? LEAVE eBay for a strictly antiques & collectibles auction site. The problem? There is NO antiques & collectibles auction site for "small" sellers....not YET, anyway..... :)

I did see an article online about how eBay could be "toppled", and it said just what is slowly being done....Auction sites grabbing pieces of eBay's market...Not trying to grab it all, just chunks. And, I see it happening...there is a cellular phone auciton site now, and it is run by a huge company who specializes in just that. SO, it is now time for the antiques & collectibles community to jump the sinking ebay ship....already multitudes have, and I know many who would welcome a community minded site again. Us antiques folks are a close knit bunch, and I believe we can start a site to rival ebay's antiques & collectibles section, easily.

Any of you who specialize in other items, may want to get together and consider starting similar sites....I believe it is the next wave.

Hey all. I'm Susan. I was a seller on ebay from 2004 until March of last year. My sales were not going well, just breaking even with all the fees and the new feedback policies and best match were kind of discouraging. I went back to my former profession - medical transcription - and have been doing that pretty much full time. I still had a ton of merchandise that I have been getting rid of a bit at a time through donations mostly. I can't stand the pile of bins in the basement any more though. I have some slated for a 2nd hand shop, some new thing set aside for Christmas donations and have decided to give this another go to (hopefully) sell off the remainder of it. Who knows? Maybe I'll be so successful I can quit my day job ;)

Hi everyone my name is Kelly and I am a stay at home mom, so I kind of depend on ebay for a little extra cash. I just sold something on ebay and was shocked at how much I was charged. When I listed the item it only said .45 cents, which is great! Once I sold the item all these rediculous charges came into play. THEN when I tried to receive my money from paypal they charged me almost $4.00!!!! This is CRAZY! When did all of t his start??

I'm just a small timer on eBay, mostly a buyer, occasional seller. I just had a bad experience with a buyer who welched on a $465 bid. When I saw I couldn't give this bum-pay negative or even neutral feedback, I canceled the transaction rather than even start the unpaid item process. eBay's new feedback policies are simply ridiculous, and I'm seriously thinking of quitting eBay. Between this, the fees, having to use PayPal, it's just not worth it anymore.

Hi Everyone,

I just found this group, and I agree with all of you. I've been an eBay user since 1998, and I am really saddened as to what I see is going on with the corporate culture and how none of us are appreciated, as eBay always insists. They resemble something along the lines of AIG or Goldman Sachs, but I don't see a government bailout happening for eBay. We need to start insisting on a new Town Hall road show, like they did a few years ago. They don't seem to have any idea of what is happening to this so-called eBay community and they are biting the hands that feeds them. They need to get out of their brick & mortar executive offices and actually see what is happening to a once great company.

The feedback system definitely needs some revisions. Sellers can do everything right and still get negative feedback, they don't have a voice where feedback is concerned. Because of the way the feedback system works, the buyers (some buyers) are taking full advantage of the sellers not being able to give a negative. I have suffered greatly since the feedback system was revised and I have considered not selling on Ebay anymore, also.

I am smuggler6 from South Carolina.I'm hesitant to use my real name but if you want to know maybe you can p.m. me if thats possible here. With all the new policies/sanctions against sellers,it seems like nothings possible anymore.Anywho,I am a p/t seller who used too LOVE this site.I have my doubts now though. In the past,if I wanted to buy something, this was the first and only place I shopped. Now,lately I find it to be the last. Now that I have found this board,it seems like I'm not as alone as I thought I was in terms of disgruntled members.I may buy from time to time if the deal is good but I don't look nearly as hard or hold such high regards of E-Bay as I used too regretfully.:-p
